Overview
- Prevalence: Less common but as prevalent as SCC.
- Common Locations: 75% occur on the leg.
- Appearance:
- Erythematous, well-circumscribed plaques ≥1cm.
- Slightly raised with irregular hyperkeratosis.
- Lacks the shiny surface and pearly rim of BCC.
- May be bright red.
Risk Factors
- Cancer Progression: SCC arises in 3% of cases.
Differential Diagnosis
- Solar Keratosis
- BCC: Shiny surface, pearly border, few dots of pigment.
- Psoriasis: Silvery scale.
- Eczema
Treatment
- General Measures:
- Excision.
- Liquid nitrogen (more aggressive freeze than SK; may ulcerate on the leg).
- Monitoring and watchful waiting.
