Peyronie’s disease

  • Shortening and curvature of penis, often accompanied erectile dysfunction, nodule, painful erection
  • Risks
    • 55-60yrs
    • penile trauma
    • diabetes
    • obesity
    • hypertension
    • hyperlipidaemia
    • smoking
    • pelvic surgery
  • Association dupuytrens contracture
  • Should be evaluated when erect
  • Generally, diagnosis of Peyronie’s disease is based on clinical findings.
  • Treatment
    • Only required if effecting function
    • Intralesional injections
      • Collagenase – reported to cause decreases in curvature, ,ultiple injections are required 
      • Verapamil – studies have found that intralesional verapamil injection induces a significant reduction in penile curvature
    • Surgical intervention
