limp (kids)

  • Trauma – anywhere from foot to hip 
  • Infection
    • Cellulitis 
    • Osteomyelitis 
    • Infectious arthritis
    • Ross River virus 
  • Inflammatory
    • Gout (unusual at a younger age) 
    • Reactive arthritis Reiter’s syndrome 
    • Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, SLE 
  • Post infectious
    • Acute rheumatic fever 
  • Primary bone
    • Osgood Schlatter disease (common) 
    • Perthes disease of the hip (on the older side for this) 
    • Slipped upper femoral epiphysis (most likely in his age group) 
    • Shin splints 
  • Neoplastic or haematological
    • Bony tumour 
    • Haemophilia 
    • Thalassaemia
