Post lumbar puncture headahce
- Leakage of CSF from dura
- Frontal/occipital headache within 12-24 hours of procedure
- Worse when upright
- Risk – women, age 20-50, bevel incorrect
- Treatment
- Reassure Usually resolves 24 hours
- Bed rest
- Brief oral analgesics (not NSAIDs though – platelets)
- Rehydration
- Specialist – blood patch, caffeine infusion if ongoing
